Tonight I will write about the fourth of the seven CDs I gave to my friend.
If someone asks me, “Which band do you like ichiban?”, I immediately answer “Rockpile”.
One of the two albums that led me to Pub rock is their only album, Seconds Of Pleasure.
(The other is Nick Lowe’s “The Rose of England”)
Around 1987, I liked listening to American rock songs like Bruce Springsteen and John Cougar singing a way of life, and singers like Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen to hear the lyrics.
As I still remember, two records I bought at the Teito Radio Record Store on the 2nd floor of Kinokuniya Bookstore in Shinjuku attracted me to Pub rock.
Bright, fun, and light!
All of these were elements I lacked at the time. (even now…)
Not only is it light, but it has the ability to perform well and is attractive as music.
I became a Pub rock believer and started collecting vinyl and CDs.
It is currently in progress.
See you soon.
