Dr. Feelgood

The fifth of the seven CDs I gave to my friend was Dr. Feelgood’s “Down By The Jetty.”
This album is always listed in the Pubrock section in published rock master guides.

Suddenly, the first song, “She Dose It Right”, jumped into my ears.
After the rhythm team hit it, the guitar cuts hard.
A singing voice that gives a sense of leeway and power, and a guitar that slams hard alternately compete for the leading role.

An aggressive, piercing sound with a violence, like a chainsaw work sound.
The sound of the Fender Telecaster played by Wilko Johnson has carved this album into rock history.

Both “Roxette” and “Keep It Out of Sight” are Wilko Johnson songs.
It’s also a great job as a songwriter.

Lee Brilleaux, who has a good vocal and harp without losing to the guitar.
John B. Sparks on bass and The Big Figure on drums have the impression of supporting the front two without overplaying.
Rhythm teams, which are the legs and feet of human beings, form the basis of performance.

On 27/02/1991, I saw Lee Brilleaux’s Dr. Feelgood performance at a joint with Wilko Johnson BAND.
In the rockin’on magazine, the two men who knew each other read that they didn’t talk at all in front of the dressing room.

The passing when leaving the band seems to have been impossible to make up in life.
I can’t forget the appearance of Lee Brilleaux singing with his eyes wide open while smoking a cigarette. I want to pray for his soul.

I have been able to see Wilko Johnson perform many times after that, and he seems to have overcome the illness and is fine.
I want to see him live again, but it’s hard for me, who is already old, to stand up and watch the live because of backache.

See you soon.
