Around 1983, I remember that Hulk Hogan was wearing a T-shirt with ICHIBAN on his chest and was ringing in.
I think I was fortunate to be able to see ICHIBAN=Best Favorite’s NICK LOWE for three consecutive days at the end of my college days.
It was also the last concert I was born and raised in the Showa period.
He played guitar alone for three days, but there were two unforgettable episodes.
First, he sang while playing the electric bass. The song was “(I Want to Build a) Jumbo Ark,” which was recorded on the Party of One of the album that was not released at that time.
The other is the happening that happened during the encore one day. It was a brave girl who slapped and scolded when a boy came out in front of the stage who was too noisy and disturbed the atmosphere of the venue.
Even I, who was nearby, remembered advising a boy who was dissatisfied.
After the performance, he apologized to me, but the girl was no longer there.
I was pleased with his apology.
The venue, Kudan Kaikan, was very close to the Nippon Budokan, and it was a place I liked very much because it was very easy to see and had good sound.
However, it was closed due to a painful accident in which the ceiling collapsed and two people were killed in the Great East Japan Earthquake.
I hope that even if it is rebuilt, the goodness of those days will remain.
See you soon.
