LETTER TO YOU

Bruce Springsteen’s new album has arrived, so I’m listening to it right away.
Knowing his existence made me interested in music other than Japanese.
Even so, I always buy albums released after 1992, but I haven’t listened to them many times over time.

The message is immutable, but I’m not attracted to the sound.
I think it’s not because of him, but because my taste as a listener has changed.
Not only him but also big rock musicians tend to self-produce albums.
I don’t like that trend.

No matter how successful they are, I feel that the works they create while constantly touching new values have a fresher appeal.
I think it’s hard to get an ever green creation with just the familiar values.

Ron Aniello is credited as a co-producer for this album as well as his recent work.
I don’t know how much authority he actually has in recording, but at least this album arrived smoothly in my ears as a “letter to me”.

It was released just before the US presidential election, so I expected it to be politically strong, but fortunately it was a wasteful worry.
I think it’s a very good natural finish with no unnecessary force or pressure from his singing voice.

See you soon.
