I learned of his arrival in Japan when I lined up with the UDO Music Office, the host of the invitation, to buy a good seat at the advance sale of another singer.
At that time, youths who like ROCK near Tokyo departed with the first power generation car early in the morning when they checked the morning newspaper and found the announcement of the concert.
We lined up in front of the building that was handed out in search of a numbered ticket with the earliest possible number.
I was a college student too, so that was possible.
Early in the morning of 1988, when I got the desired numbered ticket and tried to go home, the numbered tickets of other artists were also distributed.
WARREN ZEVON, Asylum Records like my favorite JACKSON BROWNE and TOM WAITS, so I knew only the name.
I got a numbered ticket for the time being, but I gave up because it was the same release date as the live performance of other singers.
I think I had the feeling that I should go when I come to Japan next time.
(I can’t remember who the singer on the same release date went to get the numbered ticket that morning)
Later, I regretted hearing his latest album, Sentimental Hygiene.
I wish I had gone to the performance.
I then continued to buy his work, but he died without another visit to Japan.
After that, every time my favorite artist came to Japan, I decided to go even if there were some difficulties.
